2003 Recording of Ron & Susie Vincent

Last updated 06/21/2022

Although she was sick, while Susie was still able. she consented to recording some old favorite tunes we had enjoyed through the years.  I got my digital multi-track recorder and microphones out early in 2003 and we recorded a few songs.

Here's the songs we recorded:

The Songs
500 Miles
Susie and I sing this duet.  Our family often sat around singing folk songs as I accompanied us on guitar.  It was a natural for Susie and I to teach old folk songs to our children because singing is what first brought Susie and I together and start dating as teens.

Thanks to our friend and neighbor, Steve Hamilton, we made a pretty good trio.  When our kids got old enough to sing, we loved teaching them some of our old favorites.   CLICK HERE FOR LYRICS.

Bobby McGree
I loved hearing  Susie sing this.  Sometimes we would sing it together.  I think it's the only blues song she ever liked.

Country Road
This is a family country / folk favorite of ours.  Sometimes we all sang it together.  Even today, my youngest daughter, Leah, and I enjoy singing the harmony parts on this John Denver tune.  Susie sings solo on this one.

Please Come To Boston
Another solo, this was a popular tune on the radio that we both enjoyed.  I accompanied Susie on acoustic guitar on each of these songs.

Rocky Top

This is an old country favorite that my brother-in-law Mike Little and I often sang together.  Susie consented to record this duet with me so we'd have at least one country song in this mix.

Battle of 1814
These last 4 songs are songs my children requested that I record.  Susie was not on these recordings.  They were all recorded in 2003 the same time these other songs were recorded.  My children would enjoy adding "sound effects" when I sang this song.

If I Had a Hammer
This was a family favorite when my children were small.  They loved to sing along with this one.

Puff the Magic Dragon
All children loved this song and still do.

Where Have All The Flowers Gone
This was another family favorite my children enjoyed joining in.  They especially loved the guitar bridge at the beginning of the song, the end of the song, and at the end of each verse.  Our youngest daughter requested this often.
